I hope that most of you have chosen the book that you would like to read for the book to movie project I mentioned before Christmas. It can be a book you have already read or one that is new for you. There must be a movie to accompany the book. Perhaps you can borrow the movie from a friend or the library if you don’t have it.
Be prepared to make detailled comparisons between the book and the movie. You might want to take some notes as you read each chapter so you don’t have to reread the book too many times. (Think about the plot, setting and characters.) Worksheets will be handed out next week to assist you.
Feel free to share the book you have chosen with us here in the blog. What differences or similarities have you noticed so far?
“Marley and Me” is the book and movie I have chosen. This may be surprising because I don’t even have a dog but I heard it was a good story and thought I would give it a go. The book was written by John Grogan and is a true story based on his life with a crazy energetic dog Marley. The book was recently made into a major motion picture starring Jennifer Anniston and Owen Wilsen (speling may be off on the names)now in theatres. What I have noticed so far is that there were some events that took place in the book that did not in the movie however most of the main parts were incuded. The writer of the movie probably decided to take out certain pats so the film would no get too lengthly. Marley got fleas at one part in the book and not in the movie for one example. Another thinfg that I have noticed is the movie included parts where John would be at work. In the actual book he doesn’t talk about his office much. There is also a friend of Johns named Sabastion who has not been mentioned in the book but had great presence in the movie. Anyways, so far I have been enjoying the plot. Overall, the movie sent a good message (which I am sure the book will too) John concuded the movie with a quote, “Dogs don’t need fancy accessories all they need is for you to love them and they will love you back.” The movie had it’s happy moments and its sad moments, but overall it was a good movie.
One easy read to do is Kit Kittredge. It is from a younger girls point of veiw, but there is alot of good differences and similarities to record. For example, the movie had a seperate mystery going on that the book didn’t even mention. It filled up a ven diagram for me! Although, I do not think that the boys in our class would enjoy this book…if anyone is thinking of a book still, here are some I have come up with:
1.Bridge to Terribithia
2.Marley and Me (clairebear1 has already mentioned)
3.TWILGHT!!
4.The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
5.Prince Caspian
6.Anne of Green Gables
Hope everyone finds something great to read!
The book & movie I am doing is Stardust (by Neil Gaiman). It was an amazing movie, and I was actually stunned how much better it was than the book… even though the author was involved with both. Originally, I planned to do The Da Vinci Code, by Dan Brown, one of my favourite books, but unfortunately, during the break, I didn’t have access to the movie during the time I was working on the comparison.
There are many MAJOR differences between the book & movie, Stardust. One of the weird things is, in the movie, the climax of it isn’t even in the book. I’m actually really looking forward to finishing & presenting this project.
I am doing Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone. I chose this book because I have the book and the movie andbecause I have read the book and seen the movie before.
i was going to do the book SAHARA by Clive Cussler but then i found out that all most every scene is diffrent so i thought tha my presentichon would be to long so i swicht books but i would recomend the the book to any one that has read any Clive Cussler books. His books are mosty adult books so there are some big words in it and some reffrence to achole it the books.
Oh man… I did my comparison on the book Eragon, by Christopher Paolini. All I can say is that there are A LOT of differences between the book and the movie. I saw the movie first I’ll admit but after I finished the book (which I read non-stop in 4-5 days because it was so good) I watched the movie again and I was extremely disappointed. If you completely forget about the book, the movie is a good family movie with a decent amount of action and magic and heartfelt moments. Other than that, the movie was not good.
The differences between the book and the movie with my book (Narnia) I didn’t really find a lot of changes. They’re some changes but not big and important changes.
I did Tuck Everlasting for my Book To Movie Comparasion and this was just another reason for my Books are better than movies!
IIt was unbelieveable how many differences there were between the book and movie!
