I hope everyone had an enjoyable Christmas holiday. What are some of the holiday traditions celebrated at your house? What was your favourite gift and why?
Did anyone receive a “Flip” videocamera for Christmas? If so, could you bring it to school on Monday? I would love to try it on our school computers to see if it works. I am considering buying some for use at school.
Happy New Year everyone!
A New Year’s tradition that my family and I celebrate is the cutting of the “Basilopita” cake. This cake is baked on New Year’s eve with a coin inserted in the batter. After the stroke of midnight, we cut the cake, naming who each piece is for. Whoever ends up with the coin, will have good luck all year.
My favourite gift was the new James Ehnes CD named Homage. James Ehnes is my favourite violinist – he even shares the same birthday as Mozart. On this CD, he plays all 12 Stradivarius violins in the Fulton collection. He chose a special piece for each instrument depending on its tone quality and character. It even comes with a DVD that we will probably watch in Strings class.
I HAD AN AWESOME HOLIDAY!! My family and I left on Boxing day to go on a ski trip to Whistler which was a lot of fun!
There are some Christmas traditions in my family. Throughout December, we have dinners with both my Dad’s parents exended family. (If you don’t know what that means it is my second cousins whose names I soemtimes forget and family we see ony once or twice a year). At one dinner on my Grandma’s side of the family, we light a candle in rememberance of my Great Grandmother who is not here today. We also spend time with my Dad’s imediate family either on Christmas Day or Boxing Day!
On my Mom’s side, we try to get together on Christmas Day or New Years. This year we couldn’t do either, so we decided to have a gathering in early December!
So each December, my family eats 4 turkey dinners!! Yumm!
Anyways, I hope everyone had a great Christmas too! Oh and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Much the same as clairebear1, I had an amazing break!
These are some family traditions. This year, I slept in! I woke up at 6:45 am!! I’m usually up at around 4:00am!
I was very excited to open my presents!! my bigger presents were: Rockband, a saddle, and bridle(for a horse), a mini dirtbike, and much more!
How about everyone else? Then, usually after Christmas we go to Buffalo to shop for 3 days!
On Christmas Eve, I went to my Aunt’s house for a family dinner. Then Christmas Day, at our house we had another family dinner! On Boxing Day we wen tot my Grandparents house to have another family dinner!!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I got a camera!;D Pink and Purple and it is a Canon! I am very happy with it!!! Basically, I was at home for the break. My grandparents came for Christmas and stayed until the day after Boxing Day. I went sledding a bit and skiing and that was a lot of fun. I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday as well!
I didn’t get a camera, but I got an Xbox and maybe we could try that on the smart board?
It would be an interesting experiment. How would it hook up? If the X-Box had a USB connection, it might work. Do you have any educational games for it?
There are educational games for the Xbox but i dont think Tanner has any. Neither do I.
Yeah I don’t think Tanner will have any type of educational game or any one else will.
I also had an amazing trip. We went to Ottawa for my brother’s hockey and it was so much fun, but for Christmas I got a digital camera but I didn’t get a flip one lol :p!!!! and I got rockband which is awesome. I love playing the drums! :p
Well, like Sydney I got stuff for my horse like a blanket and a halter and treats. It’s so awesome – hope flicka likes it !!! :p
lol
I had a really great Christmas! We went to Horseshoe valley to spend some time with my Aunt and Uncle who live there.
The best part was seeing my Cousin who has moved to Australia for University.
I got a guitar which i am currently taking lessons for and I’m really enjoying it! My mom also got me new speakers so I can listen to my iPod out loud when I’m in my bedroom. I also got many things like books and by now I’ve read pretty much all of them. I really enjoyed reading the book Saving Zoe! I would definitely recommend it to many girls in our grade!
