It sounds like a long and tiring day! But what a great experience for you. Which politicians have you noticed so far that you are familiar with? Is Elizabeth Witmer there? Anyone else from our area?

I am not a morning person either so I empathize with the early start to your day.

Thanks for updating us. Hope to hear from you again soon. We miss you at Northlake. :(

Once we are in the House, each person has a certain duty to attend to before the MPP's come in. For example, my duty on Mondays and Tuesdays are to do the Speaker's water. I fill it at the beginning of the morning session and afternoon sessions and I also have to change it if another Speaker is filling in, even if I know for a FACT that the original Speaker hasn't touched it!

A "regular" day in the House usually means that we sit at the front of the House on the dias (oval-shaped steps) in front of the Speaker, or at the back, standing. After you are in either one of these positions for a long time, your back and feet hurt (a lot!). My job is to deliver documents and messages to the MPP's or other people. Sometimes I am asked to hand out schedules to the whole House or deliver MPP's scripts to the Hansard (Where everything said in the House is put on record). Also, the MPP's want their water. A lot! I have to run back and fourth between the water station a lot during the first 15-20min of the Morning session.

It is getting late and I have to get ready for bed because I am really tired but I will update again! I am gone for three weeks in total and I am on the second week if anyone if wondering!

Hey Guys! Sorry I have not written! The first house I was staying at did not have a computer and I didn't have a laptop!

So far, my experience at the Legislature has been quite interesting! Everyday I have to get up at 6:00am or earlier (which is torture for me!) and I get a ride to the GO Train Station with my uncle and catch the 6:55am train and from there I ride to Union Station. It is a VERY busy place! I then catch the subway and ride to Queen's Park where I enter the Legislative Precinct through a tunnel directly connected to the subway stop.

I need to be in uniform and ready for breifings by 8:15am. My uniform includes a white, stiff-collared dress shirt, a black vest, "genie" pants (just a nickname for the dress pants! They are baggy and they have to be hiked up to my ribs:P ). On top we wear a black jacket with a name tag and the crest. around our neck, we wear a thing called a jabot (pronounced "ja-bow"). Basically, it is a doile around your neck!

In breifings, we take attendance by someone asking a fun, simple question and they know you are here when you answer the question. It's really funny sometimes! Also, we are told any changes or events that might be happening that day, and what we might need to improve on from the previous day. Usually following briefings, we than head upstairs to the Legislative Chamber.

Now, we cannot just walk upstairs! We have to get in two lines according to hieght and then we must walk in straight, SILENT lines. Turning on the balls of our feet (I can demonstrate when I get back!). At this point, we haven't even entered the House yet! It is just the beginning...

When do you leave for Toronto, Tori? Is it during March Break or after? Or, maybe you are already there. Anyways, keep us posted. :)
