Peak received no grades at the Greene Street school he attended. If you did not receive a grade for any of your work in your classes, what would change?

If we never got grades for what we did in school, a lot of things would change. For example, many students would not try as hard, because theres no reason to if you’re not getting marked. Another reason is that if we never tried as hard, we wouldn’t become as smart, and sucsessful in life. Lastly, you wouldn’t know if you did the assinment right, or not. You could be doing it totally wrong, and you wouldn’t know.
I disagree, I don’t think there is anyway to be unsuccessful in life as long as you are happy and already a lot of students don’t try hard.
I agree with saintsboy7823 but there is also a lot of people that try hard.
If we weren’t graded I definatley agree with gialloconiglio3
that some people would not try as hard, and what she says about not knowing if we did the assignment correct or not.

If I wasn’t marked in school I don’t think I would completely stop trying, but my standards would be lower. (I’d probably ask to switch schools, because I’m slightly perfectionist when it comes to big projects
) I think the way that we go about classes would change to. I say this because alot of the time teachers will say something like, “This is being marked, so you may want to work and focus.” If nothing was marked many people wouldn’t even participate and I think the teachers would have to have different teaching styles. No one would know if they had actually absorbed and learned the lesson. I think only 25% of our grade would be able to accuratley repeat, and know the lessons. Also, the future of careers would be very different because many people wouldn’t qualify due to not learning as much in school.

With most projects and test I try my very best.
If I couldn’t see or know what I got, it wouldn’t tell me anything about what i could do to make it the best it could be.
I can be a perfectionist onmany things. Not being able to physically see if I did well or not, would really bug me. Yes, I tooo would switch schools.

I agree that when I’m doing projects I do tend to be a perfectioist a little myself. I do think it’s important ot know the concepts the teachera are teaching but if we weern’t graded i don’t even know if I’d go to school, or let alone try. I wouold want to know the things but I don’t see it worth it because if we weren’t being marked we couldn’t get feedback so that we could improve. Also if we weren’t being marked I would go crazy. I need to see what I got on an assignment or a test or even something as litt and unimportant as a quiz. For some reson seeing my grades is a must for me. ASwitching schools would be a goopd alternative….i never thought of that calcio33. If the teachers weren’t marking us then they should give us easier more fun proijects to do and let due dates slide a bit because if there are no grades technically there’s no point in doing it because it has no meaning to it. But I’m still curious for why they don’t mark at GSS. Oh well……beats me.
I agree without grades school seems totally pointless. Most people wouldn’t try. I like to see my grades too. Seeing them helps me improve my grades in the future.
I agree I would probably on;y try on the assignments that I enjy.I think that what you said about the work thing is totaly true.
If we did not get grades I think we wouldn’t try as hard, as others have said. I also think that we wouln’t have the oppurtunity to improve because we wouldn’t get the marks and feedback from the teachers that we need to get better at what we are struggling. I am not sure what teachers would put down on the report card to so that would change, the comments on the report card would be alot shorter. The students would just start not caring about their work and they woudn’t bring stuff in on time etc. (but that wouldn’t really change because we have some people in our class who don’t bring things in on time and we do get marked! haha) We would all become lazy buts!

However, I think the report cards would stay the same, because the teachers would know if we were progressing or failing, just we wouldnt. Therefore, they’d be able to make a report card based on what they know. I absolutly agree with you about the “we would all become lazy buts!” part, because lots of people don’t want to work if they’re not gunna be graded on it. I’ve saw students about to work really hard, and then they find out that they are not getting graded, and they just relax and take their time.
First of all, I don’t even understand why they won’t grade you. You wouln’t ever know how you can improve youself that way at all. And as for the students, well, some of them wouldn’t even bother coming to school. In fact, it wouldn’t even be school anymore. It would be more like summer camp, only not as much fun.
that’s true I mean some days I might just say I don’t want to go to school can I stay home (my parents would never let me but I would try). I would probably try in my favourite subjects but others I just wouln’t care about. I agree it wouldn’t be like school.
If we don’t get graded on a test, I don’t think we would really know how well we did. We wouldn’t strive for a better mark, not knowing what we even got. Criticism is key to be able to do better, or well. Grades and marks are like criticism, they tell you what you did wrong, and what you can do to fix it (your test, project ect.). Withought marks, schools wouldn’t teach you much about how you think. That is my opinion.

I don’t think that I would try as hard, I would still try but I might not spend as much tim,e on it as I do now. I think it would be harder for teachers as well because people wouldn’t care as much about getting stufff in and due dates. Then again teachers wouldn’t have to do as much marking. ALso I like to get the feed back so I knoe how to improve the next time.
I think it would change for the better because did bad on something there would be no mark and everyone would feel encouraged to get help instead of just giving up. I would still try the same
You might try as hard but I don’t think others would. How would you be encouraged to getting better? I do agree with it also being a positive change though because if you did really bad on something you wouldn’t like to see it and be really embarresed.
I partly agree with you saintsboy7823 because alot of people do get very discouraged when they see the mark they recieved. I also am against this because if you get a good mark, you wouldn’t no so you wouldn’t be so proud of yourself. I’m sure peak would want to earn a good mark so he can show it off and feel smart.
I think that it would screw up jods and work in general. It would screw it up because they would have no idea on what your good at and if you would be right for the job. Also, they wouldn’t know if you got your work done on time or not.
Whats the point in going to school when you’re not being marked? I know that after a while I wouldn’t pay attation in class, I wouldn’t even care about school. I think that marks can modivate students to do bettter. There for no marks means most students not carring.
This would effect the future big time. People would have trouble with jobs because they wouldn’t have the right amount of knowlege to do the job right. How would teachers in the future be able to teach students when they know nothing. It would be a lot harder living life the way we do now. For example, paying bills would be harder because most people would have trouble with the math.
I wonder what would be on report cards without grades or would we just not get report cards. Does Peak get report cards?
I would hate it if I didn’t get grades! I am a perfectionist like others and I also have high expectations for myself to!
I think they don’t give grades at the GSS because it gives the class more freedom to expand on the ideas or guideline for the project or whatever. Because they don’t give grades I’m assuming lots of kids with morals or values would go to that school, just look at the judge that served in Peak’s case about the skyscraper accident.He sounded edjucated if not a little heartless or vain thinking he was ‘o’ so superior.

…and lauren42 since Peak doesen’t get grades I don’t think he would just get report cards and not grades, don’t forget report cards are based on grades.
I agree with that also, if I just got back a paper and didn’t know the mark I woudn’t know if I did good

I agree like today I got a level 4 on a test and I was so happy and if I ever get a bad grade then it makes study alot harder on the next test. I study for almost every test so that I will do well if I wasn’t being graded I wouln’t study I would hang out with my friends and would probably just no try.
If you didn’t recieve a grade you wouldn’t know how you were doing in school. You might think you know exactly what your doing, but the whole time you could be doing it wrong. Or you might think your doing it wrong and change your stratagie but it turns out you know what your doing. I would hate it because I would never study. I would figure whats the point? If were not getting shown our grades then why would you try? I feel bad for peak because I would never be able to do it. I hope he can learn to.
I think that if we did not revieve marks there wouldn’t really be a point in school. You would still learn but the best way to learn is from your mistakes and since you wouldn’t know what you did wrong there would be no point.
less presure to do well so i would do worse in school than i do now in subjects i don’t like and do better in the subjects i do like because i can just do my best with no pressure
