At my conference, teachers are learning about many new applications that can enhance the curriculum. I am wondering what sites or technology tools you use at home to communicate with friends, research, complete homework, etc.
How much time do you typically spend on the computer and what do you use it for? What technology do you have at home?
I spend time on the computer for homework like the blog and typing that may have to be done. Also I go on the computer for e-mail and msn. I usually spend about half and hour a day on the computer. I don’t really play games on the computer…ever. I also check the school website if I am feeling out of it with the school and don’t think I really know what is going on. Do you mean technology by tv and computer and phones???
I never play games on the computer either. I have an iPod, therefore I don’t see a reason to use my computer when I can play a whole bunch of games on my iPod.
Technology can include any type of media that you use, whether it be phone, TV or computers.
I am also interested in what programs students use. What do you use for typing for example? Do you make movies and if so, with what program? Do you use iTunes or dare I mention it, Limewire? What about digital cameras? What editing program do you use? Do you have a graphics tablet or other resource you use with your computer? Do you have wireless internet?
This information is helpful in determining everyone’s background knowledge in this area.
i have several computers at my house I make
Jpg images, clips , and soon i will program antivirus software for my computer i find limewire complicated and I wonder how they get all the songs and videos? for typing i use microsoft Word and Microsoft Works. but recently i have been using notepad to create lines of code this has been quite unsucsesful as i usualy program the wrong thing! i do not have wireless internet but i do have wired internet i find that with wired internet the internet works much faster and i never lose connection!
For Limewire XTM123 the users just upload there songs and videos. And if you could program anti-virus could you program virus-Odst1714
When I do things on the computer I am usually just doing the blog, typing something up or doing research. I don’t have any programs that I use specifically, but the conference you wemt to sounds very interesting.
At home, I always use Microsoft Office Word but at school I usually use Pages. I’ve never made a movie but it sounds like fun…..I should try it sometime, but at home we have a program called Movie Maker Pro. I have a digital camera and while my dad and I were at future shop one time, I fell in love with the Sony Cybershot W-230. I do happen to have wireless internet but we have it protected by a wpa password.
During my free time, if I go on the computer , I go on msn and a prgram call Bell Games Mania, where there are over 700 games and we only have to pay $6/month.
We have many different types of technology at my houses. I have a PS2, aPS3, VCRs, DVD Players, 2 Widescreen TVs, 2 regulare sized TVs, 2 computers, 5 laptops, 3 phones, 5 cell phones, a lot of I-Pods and about 3 or 4 cameras. We use all of this technology daily whether it’s for pleasure or work.
I, as I said earlier, use pages, and keynote.
There for I just download my CDs onto my computer. Sometimes its cheaper to buy a CD then buy 20 songs over internet. (sometimes) The computer is my sterio. I can play all my CDs, whatever songs I want, whenever.

Oh boy do I ever use iTunes! Im not aloud to download music, yet. My parents don’t want me buying stuff over internet. I end up spending to much money!
I have wireless internet. It kind of sucks, because my computer is in my room, and my room is a bit of a dead zone, (a bit) so sometimes, my internet will go out. So I can’t get on the blog, and stuf like that.
I do not know what limewire or a graphics tablet is.
I hope that was helpful.

Well I guess I use different types of technology but I’d prefer to read in my free time instead of im or email.
At home I use Microsoft word for typing, iTunes, Windows Media Player for music and my iPod and I borrow my parents camera. At school I use the Mac programs; Pages, Garage band and other that I forget the names of.
What’s a graphics tablet?
I guess I am kind of techno though, I’ve programed the family cellphone if that counts? I like to watch TV too.

I have phones, 2 computers and 2tvs. For typing at home I use word 2003 because it is easy to use. I use itunes and Kodak easy share for donloading my pictures onto the computer. I get internet aswell. I also and wondering, like giraffegirl what a graphics tablet is?
over and out- smiley3
I never have actually used Kodak Easy share yet although I download pictures onto my computer frequently because I take so many. But I usualkl just transfer all my pictures from my computer to a CD. I like to use I tunes on my I Pod because all I have to do ios click on it and it automatically downloads onto my I Pod without even needing to plug it into the computer. Al O need is a wireless internet connection and the I download the music to my I Pod from I Tunes on my I Pod. By the way Happy (late) Hallowe’en!!
A graphics tablet is a device that you can plug into your computer using USB. You can then use it to design your own graphics or images on your computer using Photoshop, Corel or another draw program. It come with a tablet and a special pen. I’m not positive how it works but my daughter has one and she uses it for graphic design.
Ya, I definetly don’t have that! I wish!
I wish I had one it would be so much fun!
That sounds really cool! I wish I had one.
I use the computer for homework such as blog and typing. I also use it for msn, and facebook. I sometimes use it for looking up movie times. I dont have a specific time that I use my computer.. it all depends on the homework we have. Other technology I have is my iPod, televisions, phones and more.
I also have tv, ipod and phones. Another thing is that I too look up movie times alot so the computer is great for that.
I use the computer for checking the blog, doing other homework, msn, facebook and email. I don’t play many games on the internet. I also use the computer for listening and downloading music. When I am listening to music I tend to use iTunes.
I use google when researching information. I also use microsoft word 2003 for typing. At school, I wish we had that program. I do not like using pages.
Our internet is not wireless, although the xbox360 is. We also have a PS2, a computer (obviously:P), TV’s and phones. My dad, mom and I all have our own cell phones.
My parents share a camera and my sibling and I have our own, along with our own ipods. I also have an mp3 and a walkman, but I do not use them anymore.
As for editing, I don’t do that much. But I do use a picture editing site through facebook.
I spend my time on the computer depending on how many emails I have, whos online (:P) and how much homework we have!
Smiley3, just like you I use Microsoft Word 2003. I do this because I find it much easier than the new one! I found it confusing and I’m not that bad with the computer. Do you use the 2003 one because you find it easier than the new one, or for another reason?

I do not have MSN or facebook. I am, however, on the computer everyday,
either working on a school project or answering my e-mail. It’s basically my stereo, clock and photo album. I have a Mac, so I use Pages and Keynote but I actually have never used Numbers. I also like to watch TV.
I mean, a lot of people watch TV, whether it is hockey, or C.S.I. or Hannah Montana, everyone watches TV.
It might be cool, to do a reading response on a TV show we watched. That might be a cool thing to do. (Just puttin’ ideas out there!) I just find the computer a good way to organize and quickly do my work. I’m a bad speller, so it helps me with that. I have messy writing, after writing for a long time. The computer helps me so much. I wouldn’t be as organized as I am now if not for it.

I also don’t have Facebook or MSN but I do use e-mail. I like your idea on a TV show – hey, maybe we could do a response on a movie. I agree I am horrible at spelling. I don’t have a Mac – I have Windows.
I have 3 TV’s, 3 computers (but, 2 are garbage) and 1 laptop. I use the computer mostly for school work, like typing, checking the blog and the school website for homework. For typing, I use Microsoft Word. For school research, I use google to find information. I also use the computer for lisening to music on YouTube or downloading music from iTunes. I don’t have Facebook or MSN. I’m not on my computer very often.
I have something like a graphics tablet but it’s called paint and it doesn’t have a tablet or special pen. I don’t have Microsoft Word but I have Microsoft Office and that connects to Word. Its the 2006 version. I have Microsoft Digital Image Library 2006 which can be used for making movies and as an online picture album.
I enjoy the computer. Sometimes, I will play games like spider solitaire, Mindsweeper, Checkers, Sims 3, etc. I also use it for music on YouTube, or iTunes. When doing homework, I will use Word to type, Google to research and WordPress for the blog. I think I probably watch more TV than I play on the computer. I also enjoy making movies out of pictures. I use Windows Movie Maker for that.
I spend alot of time on the computer, however I don’t know any sites for knowledge. I use it for msn, facebook, youtube and more. Sometimes I use google to work on finding information or math problems to help me learn, but not much else.
How much time do I spend on the computer? To much! I mostly go on the internet and go on youtube and facebook and I talk to friends on msn. Also technology I have at home is computer, tv, video game systems, ipod, telephone, surround sound and a lot more.
Hello,
! I use my computer to research stuff for school projects sometimes, but mostly I play games.
I go on my computer way too much
Hello. The only thing I really use the cmputer for is listeing to music. Unless I have homework I would only spend an hour and a half at the most. I wouldn’t play games on it because I have a Xbox 360. I finally remebered my Password
I like to play games on my computer but not from the internet. Pinball, solitaire (too much:) ) and Minesweeper, greatest recod for 9×9 was 20 sec!!!
Does anyone else have a high score on their computer games?
ggirl
I don’t usually go on the computer that much, but now that we have lot of Language assignments it’s just easier to type it than writing it out all the time. Unfortunately, I try my best to conserve computer paper, so I still have to write my rough drafts out. I have e-mail but not MSN. Instead, I use Skype.
