Zopa was introduced to us this week in our reading. He is certainly a mysterious character. What do you think of him so far? How do you think he will he be incorporated into this story? What kind of relationship does he have with Josh? With Sun Jo? Is he a well-respected character? How do you know? Give evidence from the text to support your answers.

I really think Zopa is an interesting character because it seems as if he almost has two separate lives, one as a monk in the monastery and the other as a famous rock climber and guide. I think Zopa and Josh have known each other longer than Peak thinks, possibly even from their childhoods, and know each others’ strange ways. Sun Jo, I think, may live with Zopa and runs errands for him because he seemed to know quite a bit about Zopa.
I believe that Zopa is a strange character because as explained i the book you never know the reasons behind the things that he does and you may never know. I also believe that Josh and Zopa were friends at one point in their lives because of how Josh explained Zopa’s mysterious ways of doing things. I believe that Sun jos connection to Zopa would be that maybe Zopa was his mentor or maybe even his son or something along those lines
I think that Zopa is a person who does not want to talk to people about what he does. I think that he will end up saving Peak’s life. I think that Zopa’s friendship with Josh is very close like brothers. I think that Zopa’s relationship with Sun Jo is like a teacher to a student. I think that Zopa is well respected, because Josh knows Zopa and acts as if everyone should trust Zopa. Zopa also seems to have a lot of experience as a climber.
I like Zopa so far. I think he is a great add in to the text. He is very questionable,it’s like he knows something everyone else dosen’t. I feel that him and Josh have known eachother for a vey long time. Maybey they met when they were very young ? Hopefully we will find out soon. I think Peak and Zopa will become closer friends and maybey even climb together. Since Zopa was a guide before maybey he will teach Peak some skills on antisipation (on were to go when and how to manoover) when he is climbing.
I think that Zopa is a respected climber that has different ways of doing things. I predict that something happened to Zopa to make him stop climbing and be a monk. Maybe he got into an accident that made him not climb as much and only as a sherpa. I think that Josh and Zopa were friends as kids and their relationship grew over the years with climbing. I also think that Sun Jo’s parents were maybe good friends with Zopa so that’s why Sun Jo works for him?
I think that Zopa is a very sneaky character. In the story Peaks father Josh told Peak that no one knows why Zopa is doing something. It could be for himself or to take advantage of someone, who knows? Also I believe that Zopa did not become a monk because religion, but for some other reason, e.g. to be respected to take advantage of some special privilege of being a monk, etc. In the story Josh said that he didn’t want to become a monk anymore so I can assume, combined with the fact that he does things for some unknown reason that he could be doing this. Also he might simply be taking Peak on the climb to get away from the strictness of being a monk. Of course I shouldn’t say he is bad, he could just be shy and talk not too much which puts him behind the fog of mystery. Josh and Zopa are probably at least very good friend or as me123 said even childhood friends. As Josh said in the story he trusts only Zopa and of course himself to take Peak up mount Everest. They would know each other well because they already trusted each others lives on previous trips to the summit so maybe Josh supposes that if I could trust my life onto Zopa, my son Peak can too.
I think he and Josh are good friends because earlier in the story Josh said the only person he trusts is Zopa. Everyone respects Zopa. I think he will help get to the top of the mountain and make it there him self. I like Zopa because he seems caring and not a scammer or trader like others in the story.
I think Zopa is kinda weird . I think tihs becaue he doesnt really say much . He also hasn’t been in the story very much . I think he will be sort of a counciler for Peak . I think her will help him with his problems and difficulties when he is climbing . I think that Zopa and Josk are friends from past climbing exsperience . … more to come .
I think that Zopa is a quite mysterious character. Whenever someone asks about Zopa, they just shrug. Sun Jo seems to trust Zopa a lot more than Peak, and never questions about him. Like when Peak asked why he shouldn’t have new gear, Sun Jo just shrugged and didn’t even question it. Josh seems to trust Zopa a bit more than Peak, but a bit less than Sun Jo. He still wonders about him, but has learned to not bother questioning him. Like, Josh said that there is usually a bigger reason to why he does something. Josh is curious, but never actually asks him. I predict that the reason that Zopa let Peak climb the mountain, is to get Peak and his father together again. Zopa seems to be respected by only a few people. I say this because most people don’t trust him and what he says. Like when he said that the weather was going to be bad, people were saying how he has no proof. They seem to not trust him without proof or reasoning. This is what I think.
